EL CUBO

NORTH CAROLINA,USA
2025
Uproar Festival of Public Art Second Edition, took place in the summer of 2025 across the downtown communities of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough. The festival features bold, high-impact outdoor works of art that invite connection, play, and community.
For this Festival, we presented El Cubo, a large-scale public art installation.
El Cubo unites our two series — Analog Filters and Analog Visuals — into one immersive piece. Inspired by the familiar toy cubes of childhood, the work reflects on the transition from youth to parenthood and creates a space that is both playful and reflective.

Visitors are invited to walk through the cube’s central open void, where shifting light and tactile filters transform the atmosphere. On two exterior faces, evolving imagery created through analog processes brings movement and color to the structure.
The cube is designed to be experienced from every angle. Its open center creates a visual corridor, allowing people to see one another across the installation, while also encouraging photographs that capture the interplay of light, form, and shared connection.
